PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio receiver by which direct communication between mobile stations can be attained in the case of radio communication adopting a two-wave simplex system and the communication can be maintained even when the mobile station goes to the outside of the communication area of a base station. SOLUTION: A 2nd reception system of the radio receiver adopting the two- wave simplex system having a diversity function is set to a state of able to receive a radio frequency of a mobile station side different from a usual reception object frequency by means of a changeover switch 14, a changeover section 12 and a selection changeover section 13 so as to receive both a radio wave from a base station that is a usual reception purpose and the radio wave from the mobile station different from the usual reception object frequency at the same time.
