PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device, an image read device, an image read method, and a storage medium where memories required for correcting color misalignment are lessened in amount, and color shifts caused by mechanical vibrations and looseness are alleviated by a method, wherein an image sensing device where photodetectors corresponding to colors arranged adjacent to each other is provided. SOLUTION: An image read device is equipped with photodetectors G 101, B 102, and R 103 which are arranged adjacent to each other, a linear image sensor provided with CCD transfer sections 104 to 109 which are arranged adjacent to each other, sandwiching the photodetetors between them and being divided into two groups in the direction in which auxiliary scanning is performed, an illuminating a light source 210, which is composed of a fluorescent tube where the afterglow time of emission of a fluorescent paint of color corresponding to the photodetector B 102 is shorter than those of emission of fluorescent paints of the other two colors, and an image data generating section which generates manuscript image data based on image signals outputted from the corresponding CCD transfer section.
