PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat cable having a high resistance to a mechanical stress, and also to provide a method of manufacturing a flat cable in which foamed insulation layer is not affected by thermal bonding. SOLUTION: First curved concave surfaces 9, 10 are provided at two sides 7, 8 opposing in rectangular cross-section, and second curved concave surfaces are provided at other two sides 13, 14, and there are disposed in parallel a plurality of core lines 19 having outer coating 6 in which pointed ends 15 and 18 are formed at angled portions by a combination of the curved concave surfaces. The pointed ends 15 and 16 are bent horizontally and then heated and pressured to thermally bond them between adjacent core lines 19, whereby a flat cable being alternately formed with an integral portion 23 and a non- integral portion 24 can be provided. A reinforcing tape 20 is adhered to the outer coating 6 of the flat cable 22.
