摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device that can prevent production of white stripe smear while realizing an ultra-high-speed shutter and obtain an image with high image quality over an entire shutter time from a high-speed shutter to a low speed shutter. SOLUTION: The image pickup device is provided with a CCD solid-state image pickup element 105 provided with a charge storage section and a charge transfer section, a CCD driver 106 that drives this image pickup element 105, and a mechanical shutter 104 that selects a transparent state or a shade state of an object image with respect to an image pickup plane of the image pickup element 105 and controls the CCD driver 106 and the shutter 104 to control the exposure. The mechanical shutter 104 is closed, open, and closed, charges are discharged at the first closing, a vertical transfer line is not driven for a light emission period and a charge transfer pulse TG is used to complete the exposure so as to realize an ultra-high-speed shutter with high image quality without white stripe smear. Moreover, the mechanical shutter 104 is used to complete the exposure for the low speed shutter, where a dark current noise due to the vertical transfer path is not caused.
