The mechanism, designed for a large-calibre firearm with over and under or side by side barrels (1, 2) with two firing pins (4, 5), a single trigger (11) and a cocking piece (8), has its barrel supporting plate (3) equipped with a selector ratchet (14) for the first barrel to be discharged, turning about the cocking piece pivot, and a percussion weight (7) able to perform an angular movement in cocking piece groove. The percussion weight has a section which interacts with the ratchet to strike one of the firing pins, and the ratchet has an indicator (17) which can be controlled as the firearm is closed to allow the same barrel to be discharged every time.
