PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily reduce burrs generated on a floating surface rail 2 when a strip row-bar is divided and cut into sliders. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method has a step added for forming a spare groove 21 having a depth shallower than a row-bar thickness in a row-bar thickness direction near a floating surface rail 2 by using a grinding wheel 31 having a width larger than that of an area 3 eliminated by dividing and cutting, before dividing and cutting a strip row-bar into a magnetic head sliders. For the dividing and cutting, the dividing and cutting work is carried out by using a grinding wheel 32 having a width smaller than that of the spare groove such that a divided cut groove is prevented from being brought into contact with the edge of the spare groove, and the generation of burrs on the floating surface rail 2 is suppressed.
