PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waterproof type optical fiber cable which does not remain as it is even when the cable is classified by components and water absorptive swelling tapes are subjected to a disposal treatment after the disassembly of the cable and which is not the cause for the occurrence of generation of sewage by absorbing the water of rain, etc., and forming puddles. SOLUTION: This waterproof type optical fiber cable is constituted by housing a plurality of coated optical fibers 2 within plural grooves 1a disposed on the outer peripheral surface of a slot rod 1, forming wrapping layers 3 consisting of the water absorptive swelling tapes on the outer periphery thereof and further coating the outer periphery thereof with a sheath 4. The water absorptive swelling tapes described above are constituted by forming water absorptive layers of a water absorption magnification of >=100 times/2 minimum and natural decomposability on base bodies.
