PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heater having high reliability, which scratches little the surface of rewritable thermosensitive recording media or the like. SOLUTION: In the heater wherein a heat insulating layer 2 and a heating resistive layer 3 are covered sequentially on the insulating substrate 1 along the longitudinal direction of the substrate 1, and pair of electrode layers 4a, 4b are connected to both sides of the heating resistive layer 3, they are electrically connected to the connection terminal 8a, 8b under the insulating substrate by inserting the conductor 7a, 7b into through-hole 6a, 6b formed on both sides of the insulating substrate 1 in the longitudinal direction of it, the heat insulating layer 2 has notch parts on the both side areas in the longitudinal direction and on the middle area in the width direction, the electrode layer 4a, 4b are electrically connected to the connection terminals 8a, 8b by introducing each one end of the electrode layers 4a, 4b and conductor 7a, 7b to the notch part and stacking the both.
