PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer in which printing time is shortened. SOLUTION: A control section turns a pulse motor 32 to cause rotation of a feed roller 23 thus feeding a TA paper 20. Printing is started with Y color by means of a thermal head 21 as the TA paper 20 is carried. Subsequently, a Y color fixing lamp 25 is lighted and fixing of the TA paper 20 with Y color is started. Upon finishing print with Y color, a feed roller 27 is turned to carry the TA paper 20 while inverting the carrying direction. Subsequently printing is started with M color by means of the thermal head 21 followed by fixing of M color. Upon finishing print with M color, a feed roller 23 is turned to invert the carrying direction of the TA paper 20 furthermore and then it is carried in the same direction as the Y color printing before the TA paper 20 is printed with C color by means of the thermal head 21.
