PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyamino acid derivative useful as a reagent, etc. for research capable of detecting biochemical phenomenon and biological activity in which sugar participates as fluorescence. SOLUTION: This polyamino acid derivative comprises an amino acid having a reactive functional group comprising hydroxyl group, carboxyl group or amino group at the side chain in addition to amino group and carboxylic group forming polypeptide bond as a unit and binds phenyl boronic acid group represented by the following formula (I) wherein R is hydroxyl group or carboxyl group which is reactive functional group of amino acid side chain or an atomic group formed by reacting with the reactive functional group} through a reactive functional group of the above amino acid side chain to luminescent and fluorescent functional group.
