GREEN LIGHT-EMITTING SrAl12019 LUMINESCENT MATERIAL ACTIVATED WITH Mn2+

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a green light-emitting fluorescent substance or scintillator material exhibiting a sufficient lumen retaining property. SOLUTION: Mn+2 activator ion and at least one trivalent rare earth element sensitizer ion are added to a green light-emitting SrAl12O19 material. The material preferably contains four kinds of rare earth element ions, namely Ce3+, Pr3+, Gd3+ and Tb3+. If desired, a part of the aluminum may be replaced with magnesium. The material can be used as a fluorescent substance for display devices or lamps or as a scintillator for X-ray diagnostic tools or lasers.
