PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a vertical dimension and improve the operationality of an electric rice cooker. SOLUTION: Relating to the electric rice cooker comprising a rice cooker body 1, a heating means 8 and a cover body 2, on an outer surface member 21 constituting the outer surface of the cover body 2, there is provided a handle member 23 with a gripping portion 23A bridging between one side and the other side of the cover body 2, while a concave-shaped portion 21A is provided on the part of the outer surface member 21 corresponding to the gripping portion 23A. With such structure, the height of the gripping portion 23A of the handle member 23 can be reduced by what is reduced of the height of the outer surface member 21 by the forming of the concave-shaped portion 21A. As a result while maintaining a good gripping performance of the handle member 23, the electric rice cooker can be miniaturized in the vertical direction by reducing its vertical dimension.
