PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a resin composition for molding a foam, having an excellent balance of high-temperature rigidity, dimensional stability, vibration-damping properties, recyclability, etc., and to provide a foam obtained by using the composition. SOLUTION: This method of producing the resin composition for molding the foam (e) comprises melting and kneading 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin (a) with 0.5-200 pts.wt. of a liquid crystal resin (b) at a temperature under the melting point of the liquid crystal resin (b) to form a resin composition (c), and further melting and kneading 100 pts.wt. of the obtained resin composition (c) with 0-30 pts.wt. of a heat-decomposition type blowing agent at a temperature under the melting point of the liquid crystal resin (b) to form the resin composition for molding the foam (e).
