PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of executing for a build-up welding for a molybdenum-containing austenite-based stainless steel thereby a multi-layer build-up welding is executed to produce a welded metal having an excellent bending characteristics by using a welding material having chemical components equivalent to SUS316L steel from the first layer or the base layer of welding layers. SOLUTION: The first layer of a welding metal is formed to have chemical components equivalent to SUS316L steel or SUS317L steel and a ferrite content of 10 or smaller at the Delong's ferrite number. On the first layer of the welding metal a build-up welding is executed under the condition that the cooling speed of the welding metal of a second layer is given by a lower value of either parameter given by CR1=2πλcρ(h/Q)2(540-T0)3 or CR2=2πλ(1/Q)(540-T0)2, whereλstands for the thermal conductivity, c stands for the specific heat, h stands for the plate thickness, Q stands for the welding heat input, T0 stands for the initial temperature of the steel plate or the temperature between paths, andρstands for the density of the welding metal, but the value of the cooling speed is 0.90 or greater.
