PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron gun of large diameter that shows less astigmatism, and fewer variance in focus and convergence. SOLUTION: The electron gun of an inline color picture tube has the main lens consisting of a focus electrode applied with a focus voltage, intermediate electrode applied with an intermediate voltage between the anode voltage and focus voltage, and an anode applied with an anode voltage. The focus electrode and anode electrode are shaped tubular with a plate electrode attached to its inside, while the intermediate electrode consists of two tubular electrodes connected through an intermediate plate electrodes in sandwich. This facilitates fabrication of the electron gun with improved focusing ability and less irregularity in the performance.
