PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture signal processing method which raises the display resolution of a raster picture and displays more information with a stroke picture and suppresses the power consumption in the case of a hybrid display for simultaneous visual recognition of the raster picture and the stroke picture. SOLUTION: The stroke picture is plotted by vector scanning in a vertical fly-back time during raster scanning for display of the raster picture on a CRT display device. The speed at which data are read out from a frame memory is made higher than that at which digital data obtained by digitizing an analog picture signal for raster picture are written in the frame memory. Digital data for raster picture which is read out from the frame memory and a signal synchronized with a read signal of digital data for raster picture from the frame memory are outputted to the CRT display device as a luminance signal for raster picture and a deflection signal for raster picture respectively.
