PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propagate microorganism in high density within a short period without releasing malodorous gas to the atmosphere during the acclimation period of the microorganism and to obtain steady deodorizing capacity at an early stage and to start normal operation. SOLUTION: A deodorizing tower 11 is provided with a return duct 21, and the microorganism is propagated in high density within a short period at a microorganism carrier layer 14 during the acclimation period of the microorganism at a microorganism carrier layer 14 incorporated in the tower while returning the treated gas of a microorganism carrier layer 14 to malodor source 30 via the return duct 21 to obtain steady deodorizing capacity at an early stage, so that the normal operation can be started.
