PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost bearing device reducing a bearing area, eliminating the need for supplying fluid under high pressure, and capable of having sufficient rigidity. SOLUTION: A hydrostatic pressure bearing is provided which ejects fluid into first clearances 10a, 10b and 11 between a rotor 1 serving as a mobile member and an opposite support member to support the rotor 1 by means of the static pressure of the fluid without contact. A second clearance 12 different from the first clearances and into which the fluid can be supplied is provided, and when a load applied to the rotor 1 becomes greater than a predetermined value, the fluid is supplied also into the second clearance 12; a floating force produced by the resulting buildup of pressure within the second clearance 12 is added to another floating force derived from the hydrostatic pressure bearing.
