PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device capable of reducing the entire area of the device. SOLUTION: This elevator device comprises a pair of elevator cars 1 and 3, traction sheaves 4 and 5 installed in correspondence with the elevator cars 1 and 3, a balance weight sheave 8 installed between the traction sheaves 4 and 5, and a balance weight 9 held by the balance weight sheave 8. The elevator cars 1 and 3 are connected to each other through a rope 2, and the rope 2 is applied to the traction sheaves 4 and 5 and the balance weight sheave 8. The balance weight 9 is provided for each pair of elevator cars 1 and 3.
