PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cavity constructing method for a facility in a base rock reducing the slack and crack opening of the base rock near the cavity, improving the reliability and safety in design for the facility in the base rock, and decreasing the construction cost of the facility in the base rock. SOLUTION: In this cavity constructing method for the facility in the base rock, a temporary cavity (apex section 2) is precedently excavated 3 with the finish excavation thickness 4 left on a planned finish wall face 1 in constructing the cavity for the facility in the base rock, base rock timbering members 6 are placed on the base rock wall face 5 of the apex section 2, then the finish excavation thickness 4 is excavated to form the finish wall face of the cavity, therefore the slack and crack opening of the base rock around the cavity in the base rock can be reduced.
