PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the productivity and to improve the quality by making the entire device compact and small-sized and increasing the speed of the surface treatment and to reduce the cost. SOLUTION: The treating tanks respectively containing the processing solutions corresponding to the respective stages 5, 6 and 9 are provided in series in order of the stages. One or plural articles P to be treated mounted on a hanger rack through a chuck are successively dipped in the processing solutions in the respective tanks and transported in this surface-treating device 1. In this case, the surface-coating tank 6A, e.g. plating, is increased in length in the transporting direction F of the articles so that the articles P in the tank 6A are transported in parallel to the transporting direction F.
