PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent composition not causing solidification, oozing out, or the like, even in long-term preservation, capable of excellently maintaining qualities, stored in a container capable of reducing an amount of noncombustible waste. SOLUTION: This high bulk density granular detergent composition in a container is obtained by storing a detergent composition containing (a) 2-25 mass % of a straight-chain alkylbenzenesulfonate and (b) 20-60 mass % of an inorganic compound capable of having a hydrated crystal state at 5-40 deg.C so as to make the ratio of mass of free water to combined water in the detergent composition have 0.5-2.0 in (c) a composite material container having >=50% paper ratio.
