PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide soluble high molecular weight polyheteroacene compounds composed of sulfonio groups and aromatic groups. SOLUTION: The polyheteroacene compounds are represented by formula (1) (wherein R1, R2, and R3 are the same or different and each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryl group or an aryloxy group and each of the alkyl group, alkoxy group, aryl group, and aryloxy group may contain a hetero atom; X is an ether bond (-O-), a thioether bond (-S-), an imino bond (-NH-), a selenoether bond (-Se-) or a methylene group (-CH2-) ; Y- is an anion; and n is an integer of 2-1,500).
