PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a structural material for a building capable of efficiently manufacturing by simplifying a production management and pressing a plurality of the structural materials for the building. SOLUTION: In the case of manufacturing a structural material for a building obtained by covering the periphery of a core member 4 made of a steel material with a timber 3, covering timbers 2a, 2b each having a size by longitudinally splitting the structural material are formed by connecting a plurality of the timbers 4, and recesses 5 for inserting the member 4 are formed at the timbers 2 to a pair of split coating timbers 1a, 1b. Thereafter, the members 4 are inserted into the recesses 5 of the timbers 1a, 1b, and the members 4 are integrally connected to both the timbers 1a, 1b.
