PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for optimizing a machining parameter in electric discharge machining obtaining geometrical machining accuracy excellent with no time loss. SOLUTION: A machining electrode 3 is caused to make a relative motion relating to a workpiece 1, periodic machining is performed, a suitable machining parameter for machining in the present period is adjusted by considering a machining parameter in the present period. A machining parameter stored in at least one preceding period is also considered for adjusting the machining parameter in the present period.
