PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily close a rear door by contracting a gas spring by the weight of the rear door by performing the specified operation when the opened rear door is closed. SOLUTION: The gas spring is provided with a cylinder main body 1 having a gas chamber G1 sectioned by a proper means 10, a rod body 2 having the base end side to be retractably inserted in the opening end side of the cylinder body 1 and the tip side to be projected to the outside of the cylinder body 1 by gas pressure in the gas chamber G1 in the cylinder body 1, a gas cylinder 3 integrally provided on the bottom end of the cylinder body 1 and for projecting a rod member 31 to the outside by gas pressure in a gas chamber G2, and a control valve 4 arranged on a partition wall part 1a for sectioning the gas chamber G2 in the gas cylinder 3 and the gas chamber G1 in the cylinder body 1 and for communicating and shutting both gas chambers G1, G2.
