PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop fuel supply to cylinders after intake/exhaust valves of the cylinders are completely stopped, in a cylinder halt switching engine. SOLUTION: In this cylinder halt control device for engine which is provided with a cylinder halt mechanism halting operations of a part of a plurality of cylinders according to an operating state and a fuel supplying device for supplying fuel to each cylinder, the device is provided with a cylinder pressure detection means for detecting pressure within combustion chambers of the cylinders, a halt mechanism control means for operating the cylinder halt mechanism based on the operating state and a halt detection means for detecting the completion of cylinder halt based on a signal from the cylinder pressure detection means. The fuel supplying device stops fuel supply to the cylinders in response to the detection of the completion of the cylinder halt. Because the completion of the cylinder halt is detected based on a signal from the cylinder pressure detection means and fuel supply to the cylinders is stopped according to the detection, fuel supply is prevented from being stopped before the completion of the cylinder halt. The halt detection means compares cylinder pressure before and after a top dead center and detects the completion of the cylinder halt based on the result that both of cylinder pressure is almost equal.
