PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an oil-absorbing material by supporting cellulase productivity-enhanced microorganisms or enzymes originated from the microorganisms on a cellulosic material, especially saw dust, and simultaneously modifying the surfaces of the cellulosic material. SOLUTION: This oil-absorbing material has a simple composition, can simply and easily absorb edible oils, oils from food industry, and oils containing heavy metals or harmful substances, and can simultaneously deodorize the characteristic odors of the waste edible oils. The oil-absorbing material can also effectively absorb oils floated on oceans or rivers.
