PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color changing composition for the hair capable of reversibly changing the color thereof according to the kind of an external light source and having a great change in color tone thereof in relation to the color changing composition for the hair having the reversible color changing properties. SOLUTION: This composition for the hair having reversible color changing properties is characterized in that rare earth oxide ultrafine particles having an average particle diameter within the range of 5-200 nm and represented by the general formula M2O3 (wherein M denotes Ho, Nd or Pr) and, as necessary, a colorant other than that are formulated in a film-forming resin.
