PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for press-flattening a folded edge of a thermoplastic hollow container for the purpose of forming the edge into a shape safe enough for the edge not to hurt a person's lip when he directly drinks water holding the opening of the container in his mouth and to provide a hollow container having a flattened folded edge. SOLUTION: The method includes a process of pressing a welding press P on a sharp edge E for welding thereof while heat energy is given to the folded edge, the edge having been produced at a cut portion by cutting a drinking opening portion of a blow-molded container 1 closed by a mold.
