Metal oxide pigments - by gas phase reaction in reactor with ceramic-coated porous walls

In the prodn. of finely-divided metal oxides, suitable as pigments, pref. at elevated temp. from gaseous reactants, which flow through the walls of the reactor of porous carbons and/or graphite,the reactor walls have a thin ceramic protective coating. The coating eliminates wear of the reactor walls and is esp. useful in TiO2 pigment mfr. It should be = 0.8mm thick and consists of Al, Zr, Ti and/or Cr oxide(s).
