摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce emission by properly disposing the output of an air-fuel ratio detecting means according to the operation state of an internal combustion engine (diesel engine) and suppressing the air-fuel ratio to a desired value by controlling the fuel injection quantity and EGR quantity of each cylinder. SOLUTION: An ECU compensates EGR quantity based on the average air- fuel ratio of each cylinder in a relatively lower range out of the EGR range. In a relatively higher range out of the EGR range, the ECU compensates EGR quantity based on the average air-fuel ratio of each cylinder after compensating the fuel injection quantity of each cylinder based on the air-fuel ratio of each cylinder. In a non-EGR range, the average fuel injection quantity between cylinders is compensated based on the average air-fuel ratio of each cylinder after the compensation of the fuel injecting quantity of each cylinder. This can lessen the dispersion of air-fuel ratio of each cylinder and correct the deviation of the average air-fuel ratio of each cylinder. This makes it possible to suppress the quantity of the smoke generated to a specified value.
