PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the content of works on the start of a loom to improve the success rate of the start. SOLUTION: A defective weft is subjected to a pick-finding treatment and then removed, and a loom is reversly rotated to a start-preparing position. The loom is then positively rotated to a cutting position. A weft from a picking nozzle 22 is fed into the cutting region of a cutter for cutting the weft in interlock with a reed 21 and automatically cut. The loom is reversly rotated to the start position, subjected to the weft-free beating operation of the reed 21 and then transferred to a normal operation.
