PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for a coating material which is excellent in coating material stability and in gloss and adhesivity can compatibilize hardness with processibility and stain resistance to a high degree, and has excellent weatherability unobtainable by prior arts. SOLUTION: This composition contains (A) a polyester resin and/or a modified polyester resin having a number average mol.wt. of 2,000 or higher, containing ionic groups, and prepared from an acid component comprising 30-100 mol% alicyclic dicarboxylic acid and 0-70 mol% other dicarboxylic acid(s) and a glycol component containing 50-100 mol% 3-10C alkylene glycol and/or alicyclic glycol, (B) a fine organic-inorganic composite particles having an average particle size of 5-200 nm, and (C) a curing agent capable of reacting with (A) and/or (B).
