PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the ejection performance of an ink jet head from deteriorating in case of continuous print operation by performing maintenance accurately while taking account of the state of continuous print operation. SOLUTION: In an ink jet printer which can print a plurality of print media continuously by executing maintenance of an ink jet head at a specified timing, a decision is made whether continuous print operation is performed at a preset number of print sheets or more per a specified time or not (ST15). When a decision is made that continuous print operation is performed, next maintenance is started earlier as compared with the case when continuous print operation is not performed (ST20, ST21, ST9, ST13). |
