METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS DISTILLATION PURIFICATION OF ALKYLTETRACYCLODODECENE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy and simple process that can obtain an alkyltetracyclododecene (alkyl TCD) of high purity in high yield in the distillation of the crude alkyl TCD. SOLUTION: Cyclopentadiene and/or dicyclopentadiene, 5-alkyl-2-norbornene and/or anα-olefin are mixed with heat and the resultant reaction mixture is distilled to obtain crude alkyl TCD fraction. A distillation column is filled with the TCD fraction and the distillation conditions under which the purified alkyl TCD fraction includes <=1% of 5-alkyl-2-norbornene content are selected to continuously produce the purified alkyl TCD represented by general formula 3 (R is H or a hydrocarbon of <=6C atoms) from the top of the distillation column.
