PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive wall substrate structure with stable quality, allowing a reduction in period of construction work, and being structurally strong. SOLUTION: In the wall substrate structure, a building board 1 comprising a base 2 with at least a lightweight cement layer 3 formed thereon is fixed to a substrate 4 by nails 5. The nails are driven up to positions of the nail heads sunk inward of the surface of the lightweight cement layer. Columnar recesses 6 corresponding in shape to the nail heads are formed in the portions of the lightweight cement layer into which the nails are driven, and the building board 1 is fixed to the bed while the portions of the lightweight cement layer below the nail heads are compressed by driving of the nails.
