PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer setting a type of a sheet by a simple operation and preventing the type setting from being forgotten. SOLUTION: A sheet cassette 42 used for this printer is provided with a size setting switch 61 for setting the sheet size, a type setting switch 62 changing the state for setting the sheet types by a control part 30, an opening/closing sensor 63 for detecting whether the sheet cassette 42 is drawn out or not, and an installation blocking mechanism 64 taking in/out a stopper 65. The control part 30 in the printer is so constituted that, where the sheet cassette 42 is drawn out, one end of the stopper 65 flings out from the sheet cassette 42 to that the type setting switch 62 takes a state showing that the sheet type is unset, and when the sheet type significant for the type setting switch 62 is set, the stopper 65 is set inside the sheet cassette 42.
