PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight inorganic molded article having high strength and excellent in water resistance, heat resistance, heat shock resistance, dimensional stability and surface properties and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: A curable composition containing acidic metal phosphate, a curing agent thereof and lightweight aggregate and reinforcing fibers formed in a layered state are compounded to impregnate the reinforcing fibers with the curable composition while regulating the movement of the lightweight aggregate by the reinforcing fibers to obtain a molding material 13 having a first layer 11 containing the lightweight aggregate in relatively large quantities and a second layer 12 containing the reinforcing fibers in relatively large quantities. Subsequently, one layer of this molding material or a laminate consisting of two or more layers of the molding material is molded into a desired shape to form a semicured material which is, in turn, heated to be perfectly cured to obtain an inorganic molded article. |
