PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide glass suitable for coating a Zener diode which is low in a reverse leakage current value, is stable and makes it possible to obtain high reliability when a certain specified voltage is impressed thereto for a long time. SOLUTION: A glass raw material is formulated as a batch in such a manner that the composition shown in a table may be obtained. The raw material is vitrified by melting for one hour at 1,500 deg.C. In succession, the molten glass is formed to a film form and is then finely ground by a ball mill. The powder is classified by using a sieve of 350 mesh, by which the sample is obtained.
