PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricant having excellent performance as a lubricant for bearings. SOLUTION: This lubricant for bearings comprises a phosphite represented by the following general formula (1) wherein R1, R2 and R3 are each hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group or a group represented by the general formula (2), (R4-O)n-R5 (wherein R4 is an alkylene group and R5 is a hydrocarbon group), provided that at least one group among R1, R2 and R3 is a group of the general formula (2)} or its neutralized material. The lubricant composition for bearings contains the lubricant for bearings.
