PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic powder coating composition which has excellent decorativeness and applicability without detriment to excellent characteristics inherent in a powder coating material and which forms a coating film excellent in corrosion resistance and gloss without the necessity for forming a topcoat layer. SOLUTION: A powder coating material and a metallic pigment covered with a three-dimensionally crosslinked resin having a high compatibility with the powder coating material are preheated to a temperature higher than the softening point of the powder coating material. Thus, the metallic pigment is fused with the surface and inside of the resin particles of the powder coating material, giving the objective composition wherein the powder coating material and the pigment are homogeneously united.
