PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economic method for producing 4-nitrosoaniline, using inexpensive urea and nitrobenzene as raw materials, shortening a reaction time and a process, not producing a reaction waste harmful to the environment as a by-product. SOLUTION: Urea is reacted with nitrobenzene in the presence of a base in a polar organic solvent at a normal temperature to 150 deg.C to produce 4- nitrosoaniline.
