PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display character images full of a regional property and to improve interest by displaying the character image of a specified virtual life body or a living thing for each base station for controlling a portable electronic device. SOLUTION: When this portable electronic device 1 is called from the other portable electronic device or a telephone set, calling information is transmitted from the controlling base station. The portable electronic device 1 decodes the identification information of the base station and counts the number of times of receiving the call information from the base station. Also, the number of times of transmitting the call information from the portable electronic device 1 to the controlling base station is counted, and when the total numerical value of transmission and reception reaches a prescribed value, the character image of the specified virtual life body or living thing corresponding to the base station is read from a ROM 3 and displayed at a display part 9. In this case, by setting the character images of the different virtual life body or living thing for the respective base stations present in a specified area or region, intrinsic image display corresponding to the area is made possible. |
