Preparation of 4-25C aldehydes comprises catalytically hydroformylating the corresponding olefins using a group VIII metal in the presence of two functionalized phosphonite ligands to give a high n:iso ratio. Preparation of 4-25C aldehydes comprises catalytically hydroformylating the corresponding olefins using a group VIII metal in the presence of a functionalized ligand of formula (I) and a second ligand of formula (I) to give a high n:iso ratio: R<1>-O-X(R<3>)-O-R<2> (I) R<4>O-P(OR<6>)-O-R<5> (II) X = As, Sb or P; and R<1> - R<6> = 1-50C hydrocarbon.
