technology of noble metals, mainly, silver, palladium, platinum; applicable in recovery of said metals from carbon-containing materials including carbon catalysts, sorbents, organic residues. SUBSTANCE: method includes heat treatment of material in presence of oxidizer in the form of alkali metal sulfate with ratio of C:SO-42=1:1.5-2.5 at temperature of 900-1000 C for 0.5-2.0 h with additional formation of alkali metal sulfide; leaching of solution cake with transition of formed sulfide into solution; separation of sediment containing noble metal. In realization of the method, carbon of substrate is used in production of sulfide product. The method allows to increase degree of recovery of noble metal up to 97.5-99.8% and to produce additional products in the form of lithium, sodium or potassium sulfide depending on type of oxidizer used in the process.
