PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an expensive judgment mechanism for contact detecting and monitoring device switchably operable so as to be jointly usable in a plurality of rotary machines to solve the problem that it could not be introduced because of its expensiveness and provide a more precise contact detecting and monitoring device. SOLUTION: In this contact detecting and monitoring device having a detector and the judgment mechanism for judging the contact between the rotating part and stationary part of a rotary machine on the basis of the output signal of the detector, the detector is set independently on each of a plurality of rotary machines and connected to one common judgment mechanism, and the judgment mechanism comprises a detector sensitivity regulating mechanism for receiving the output signal of the detector to regulate the sensitivity, a contact judgment mechanism connected to the detector sensitivity regulating mechanism and a contact judgment setter for setting a contact judgment condition to judge the contact, and a display mechanism for displaying the judgment result. This device comprises a selecting circuit for connecting the detector to the detector sensitivity regulating mechanism according to the rotary machine to be subjected to contact detection every rotary machine.
