PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately position a magnetic head with respect to a pressing plate. SOLUTION: A magnetic head unit 5 includes a back shield 1 attached to the rear surface side of a magnetic head 109. The back shield 1 is formed to be larger than an area seen from the sliding surface side of the magnetic head 109. Bent parts 1a, 1b and 1c are provided in positions orthogonal to the sliding direction of a recording medium. The back shield 1 has attaching holes 2 and 3 for a pressing plate positioned in the sliding direction of the recording medium. Assembling positioning with respect to the camera pressing plate is easy, and thus highly accurate positioning is facilitated.
