METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RETRIEVING SIMILAR DATA AND SIMILAR DATA RETRIEVING PROGRAM RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high-speed retrieval by shortening the calculation time needed to find similar retrieval results by feature variables and the calculation time needed to integrate the individual similar retrieval results. SOLUTION: Similar retrieval is carried out by using as retrieval keys respective data stored in a database 2 by the kinds of feature variables in advance and the similar retrieval results by the feature quantities are put together to generate candidates for the similar retrieval results; and the distances to the retrieval key data are found as similarity as to the candidates and (k) retrieval results of high order are stored in a total retrieval result storage device 3 in the decreasing order of the similarity. When a user gives arbitrary data among the stored data as a retrieval key at the time of retrieval, the total retrieval result corresponding to the retrieval key data is taken out of the total retrieval result storage device 3 and returned as a retrieval result.
