PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compose a small sized, lightweight and inexpensive optical pickup device for recording or reproducing on or from optical disks in which the thickness of transparent substrates is different. SOLUTION: A light source 11 is composed of an InGaAlP-based laser diode 11a and a GaAlAs-based laser diode 11b which emit laser beams having different wavelengths and planes of polarization and also is regarded as one light source because these laser diodes are arranged in parallel at the interval of nearly 100 μm. Then, since a common optical path is utilized as the optical path for these laser diodes, the small sized, light and inexpensive optical pickup device is composed. |
